I have always presmued that that is not the case. i.e I want to go BA LHR to CDG then IB CDG to MAD. I would imagine they charge you 6000kms x2 rather than the 10000kms for the LHR to MAD award.

I called them last year to try to do a one way from MAD to LHR and applying the 2 segment rule, they could only offer me LA MAD-FRA followed by BA FRA-LHR. I vaguely recall them wanting 20,000kms for it. I think at the time I had 18,000kms in my lanpass account which would have been sufficient for MAD-LHR but wasn't enough for the lan 2 segment dog-leg
