I am an SPG Gold member. From my past experiences when I have had a problem, the vast majority of the time hotel management has gone above and beyond to fix the situation. Of course there are exceptions, but I don't think you should give up on Starwood because of one poor experience.

It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience on your first stay.

Out of curiosity what were the problems that you experienced during your stay?
