Policy should mandate that law enforcement be present whenever a pax is being ordered off an aircraft. That would have prevented this scenerio in the first place.
In an ideal world this would be nice but there is still common sense when people become abusive and need to leave. There are so many situations that police aren't required that it outweighs a "must be called" rule. I do speak from experience when police aren't available often because they are on a "required" response. I think most people just get pissed and leave.
