Star Integration?
Hi,
I just returned from a 16 segement Star RTW in order to get the 55k bonus. My question is, why is it that more often than not one carrier can't check me in for connecting flights on another carrier? I thought that was a major benefit with the Star alliance - integration.
My first part of the trip was MEL-TLV, but i flew MEL-SIN-BKK-SIN-AMS-CPH-GOT-FRA-TLV. 8 segements. first of all they couldn't do 8 segments. SQ in MEL told me that they can do up to 5, and recommended that since i had quite a layover in SIN, to check in for the final 5 segments in SIN.
My main problem was the SIN-BKK-SIN flights. SQ in MEL couldn't give me B.P.s for these TG segments. I had to explain why i was doing such a routing, then at SIN at the transfer desk i had to explain again, and then at the transfer desk at BKK i had to explain again (this actually caused 3 men from security to be called who came to the gate and inspected my passport for a while and demanded yet another explanation - obviously in and out of BKK wasn't such a great choice). (Hopefully soon I'll go into greater detail with a trip report)
Then once i finally got back to SIN, they could only give me at the transit desk B.P.s for 3 segments, so in GOT i had to 'check in' again.
From TLV, LH gave me B.P.s for LH to FRA then AC FRA-YYZ-YUL-LGA.
From LGA, UA could only give me LGA-IAD-LAX. Once in LAX i had to check in again with NZ for LAX-AKL-MEL.
What's up with this?
