Prepaid Resv room type not available WDYT?
So husband is Hhonors Gold (just missed Diamond last year, by one stay!) and is well on his way to Diamond this year at 24 stays so far. He had two traditional reservations this week and one prepaid.
Husband smokes. He prepaid for a smoking room. Upon arrival he was told that there were not any smoking rooms available because the guests in two of their smoking rooms had extended their stays.
Given that his resv was prepaid the hotel wouldn't have any lost revenue concerns re: a no-show, so neither he nor I can figure out why they wouldn't tell the extending guests "we'd love to have you stay but unfortunately your room is booked tonight, so we'd need to move you to a non-smoking room". Seems easy enough to me.
He was frustrated. Obviously, this isn't a life altering experience. LOL. I've emailed Hhonors cust svc on his behalf, I think they should be aware... it seems like bad business sense the way it was handled.
Anyway, WWYD? Or how would you feel? Is some sort of compensation warranted? He didn't know what options he might have at the time. He was afraid if he walked himself he'd never get a refund. They didn't offer to walk him. (I'm not saying they should have, I simply don't know policy)
