In the last 15 years the world of spirts and liqueurs has become much more highly regarded and the art of distilling has set new standard internationally. It is now possible to enjoy a variety of spirits and liqueurs which are unparalleled This succes has many intiators including with out a doubt the world spirits academy started by Wolfram Ortner. In the nineties he set up Destillata, thereby creating one of the most important competitions for all things destilled and laying the foundation for high quality products. The study course Masters of world spirits proves the world spirits academy is also very involved in training and education. At the moment this title is not found very often as the study course has just only started. However we have on board the work of one particulair holder of this title: Georg W. Schenk, owner of the first distillers of specialist spirits in Dresden, Augustus Rex. He has enriched the distilling world with a liqueur made of milk, an almost impossible feat and one which proves how innovative he is. Wine lovers know that the champagne house laurent perrier only produces vintage champagne in outstanding years. By doing so this champagne house, founded in 1812, and meanwhile one the leading houses around the world is continuing an old tradition: a respect for nature and for the wines, a passion for quality and strong and lasting relationships with people. On top of this comes energy, both that of Bernard de Nonancourt, the creator of the styles and wines of laurent perrier and of his daughters Alexandra and Stephanie, who manage this independent house today and perpetuate these values. Consquently the winner of champagne taster is no surprise. This blend of chardonnay and pinot noir is most appealing with its freshness as well as its complex aromatics suggesting white peaches, dried apricots, fresh brioche and almonds. This champagne is a real pleasure with its creamy character on the palate and long persistent finish

It is an elegant wine, characterized by its fresh, juicy fruit, hints of grapefruit, cape gooseberry, peach and pineapple as well as with a fine and fruity acidity on the palate. With this wine, the varieties sauvignon blanc and semillon have certainly also won themselves a place in heaven.
