I suppose, airbags are a big plus in India, where airbags are not standard on cars. Can you tell you are talking ti a biker.
A four wheel drive is useless too. Does it have BMW imprinted on the sides? Believe it or not, I saw many Lexus with Lexus printed in big letters on each side. I found Innova to be quite comfortable, though a bit noisy.
I see your analogy of business class versus economy has some merit. But I never pay for business class. If you want to drive me around in a BMW when I come to India,. I promise, I would not decline.
i'm with you on the innova bit....even i would never pay for business class if it was coming out of my own pocket....but some people do & if they feel the extra cost is justified then to each their own....

there is a particular multi billion dollar company that is a client of mine & recently their chairman came to india to visit some sites where they were due to set up projects....one of these sites is in a village in UP, about 4-5 hours from delhi....the roads leading up to the village are not in the best of shape & i advised them to take a car like a tata safari or mahindra scorpio, which are better equipped to handle indian roads....but they insisted their chairman would not travel in anything less than an s class mercedes....i tried to convince them a bunch of times but they decided to go ahead in the mercedes in any case & i followed in my safari....i still remember the look on their faces when the mercedes started making a loud noise as the suspension got damaged due to the huge potholes & cracks in the road....the chairman rode back to delhi with me in my safari....
