Hi, didnt see this posted anywhere, thought I'd share.
Suntrust and Delta are back at it again with a wimpier offer than last time, but a new offer to consider.
https://www.suntrust.com/portal/serv.../1905?part=STR
It is $55 for the business and one of the personal debit cards that give 5000 skymiles for first signature purchase. there is also a $20 personal card that gives 2500 points. Nothing to compare to last year, but depending on how you value them, the $20 card might be worth looking at.
Make sure if you have this card from last year that you cancel or downgrade it to the free version. On your anniversary date Suntrust will automatically charge your account $55 on behalf of Delta. It is a pain to get reversed
because suntrust claims it goes straight to Delta, My wife had no luck with the desk CSR who just called a 800 number, I had to go to another branch and get a manager to "request" a courtousy credit to get it removed, she said it's up to Delta if they accept the request from the bank. I quickly downgraded mine before my anniversary comes due.
Not sure the new offer is worth it, it may also be YMMV because the fine print mentions first time card holder and "one time bonus", but from past experience they have been generous to anyone who pays the fee for the debit card.
Last year my wife got 15k during the July promo, I waited until a better offer came out in September for the debit card. (i got more points, and concert tickets for the new account)
