Well, you are clearly more knowledgable about it than I am.
We have seen posts here from other folks who 'know' who say it is very difficult to fire a TSA employee (or any federal government employee), that it is a very difficult and exacting process and one slight hiccup and the termination can be overturned. (IIRC, the BUF BDO was fired and re-hired under such circumstances).
It does surprise me that TSA would have already made a decision to fire him. He has not been charged with anything specific relating to the badge, and at this point he has not been found guilty even of a traffic violation. AFAIK, traffic violations aren't grounds for firing. There are no eye-witnesses and he is now saying he raised his ID, not a TSA badge.
