I have flown multiple times with my bike and you do not get to check it free...even for a diamond flying first class. Now, that said I only get charged about half of the time. Sometimes for no reason I skate through without a charge. When packing your bike it is crucial to put a bolt or something through the front and back fork so they don't crack. I also take off my rear derailer. Have a trip to france in a few weeks with my wife and bikes...here is to hopeing I don't get charged!
