The 10 day rule can be waived by mostagents if they have a reasonable relationship with the airline that tickets. I've had it done. It's not one of those "steadfast" rules. Basically if the agent can ticket it, or the airline ticketing agent can, there's no real followup on it. The idea with the 10 day rule is to stop business pax buying them for quick meetings and the like.
Interestingly the 10 day rule has been dropped ex-aus for several years on all but the LITE fares. I've done many Star RTW's in < 10 days (yes, crazy!). Incidently, even F/C class RTW's ex-oz do not have the 10 day min, they have a nil min stay.
Re: RTW type tix in business class, you could try a CX/UA combo, UA/SQ combo, UA/EK combo, UA/SA combo which would give you at least some mileage under * alliance.
