Regarding IFE- I have an ITouch, laptop and DVD Player, Kindle full of new books for my upcoming flight Sunday and the inevitable noise reducing headphones. But I find it almost perfect when I can sit down, plug in, and not have to get any of those things out of my bag. I would use the Kindle on take-off and landing, but we're not allowed b/c somehow my reading device is a danger to that process.

I am almost always in seat 1A (used to be 2A or 2F but for some reason it changed this year) and so I almost always have no storage space except the overhead. I hate getting up from the window seat to get things out after take off, so the IFE, especially the plug-in DTV, is perfect for me. With a husband and a 2 Year old at home, it's nice to actually watch a movie uninterrupted. Well, almost. IMO the FAs and pilots are almost as bad as a 2 year old sometimes. On the DTV movie section, at least the screen freezes, but if you're watching tv, forget it.

I hate typing on a plane and unless I have a deadline, I will be found watching some mindless tv show or the best film available. I think of flying as free time, and IFE is very important to me. I know I'm not alone b/c I see many people enjoying the service. I hope United adds the IFE- it will be strange to have some planes with it and some without.

I guess we'll see. I'm not a hater- I liked my 1st United flight. Of course it was a small plane and a short flight and it had a small 1st Class section where CO's ERJ's don't, but when I'm finally settled into a real United Flight, I'll be watching. Why not take the best of everything, get rid of the worst and create a new airline that works for all of us? Not to be a Pollyanna, after all I might lose my Plat status on United b/c it looks like I'll only be hitting 75,000 this year and it sounds as if that is not Plat material for United. When/if this happens, I'll have a decision to make. Meanwhile, I'm just waiting and watching, and taking notes.
