FA Claims FAA dictates what carry on are allowed on ERJ 145
Did I just get a FA that was in a lousy mood? We were late, she was tired. I was tired. Don't know.
here is what happened.
I tried to bring my small computer roll on bag. It is smaller than any offical carry on sized roll bag (17.4 x 4.5 x 15.6) albeit slight wider than the official dimension of 9 x 14 x 22. But tell me who has seen a carry on actually be that size.
Anyway, I was told by FA absolutely NO roller bags on the ERJ 145.
When I protested and said it fits in carry on I bring it on all the time. Was told again. NO way. When I was muttering to myself about what BS that was (OK yes that was my bad, I admit that), and was bringing the bag out to get gate checked. FA was looking at me.
I get to my seat and when she comes by I ask her, again. Why can't I bring that bag on. I bring the bag on all the time. It fits just fine, never had an issue. Then she tells me it is FAA rules. NO exceptions. It is a roller with wheels it has to be gate checked.
By the way, there is room in the overheads, so space was not the issue.
She come by again later, I have a small bag in my lap with sandwich, ipod, plane stuff. No, not a purse, smaller still. Denim bag 6" by 5" that I use to carry the stuff I use while in flight (so I don't forget it in the seatback pocket). It was sitting on my lap. She says it has to be stowed. So without saying a word I pick it up and put it on the floor.
When she comes by again, she tells me that she has informed the pilot, and that if I don't cooperate she will remove me from the plane. I had to verbally agree to cooperate or I was off the plane.
SAY WHAT.
I complied with the small bag, and cooperated with the emergency row drill. So why the threat. So I said, "I complied with the last two things you told me to do without saying a word, so I would assume I would also comply with your request to cooperate."
Is she just having a bad day, and I happen to get PO'd about not bring my computer on board. Combo makes for bad blood.
There is not an FAA rule, she is just making that up.
Is that not a just a power trip. I complained about the bag, but said nothing when asked to do anything else. How does that make me non-cooperative. And Threaten to have me removed from the plane.
What can you do but just shut up, and get the H**L home already.
