Within Adobe Reader on the Mac, you would start by saving a copy of the PDF. Pull down "File" then "Save a Copy..." If the file is large, you may wish to send it via some technique other than email. There are many free services that upload large files and send an email link to the recipient for download. Yousendit.com is free for files less than 50 MB and seems to be spam free.
