I guess one difference is that the people who think the cellphone rule is stupid eventually do turn off their phones while the people who think the ID rule is stupid don't wind up with their booze (at least not from the initial store).
Sorry, LondonElite is correct; you are comparing apples to oranges. Never once have I seen a person get angry at the request of a flight attendant to turn off a phone (actually, I've never witnessed a flight attendant personally ask a passenger, the PA announcement is 99.9999% sufficient to get people to act). If anything the cellphones remain on because of forgetfulness. I'm sure thousands of people forget each day. Heck I caught myself once and noticed there was no signal at 35,000 feet right before I turned it off. Your painting a picture in your mind that there are multitudes of people using their phones in their air and during taxi getting confronted to abide by the rule and then complaining (seldom happens).

This you are doing in an attempt to make it look similar to a mindless CARD EVERYONE policy that senior citizens and the over-50 age group have every right to be frustrated with at the given establishment. Essentially, this is another one of all the past mistakes in logic to use the fallacy of the ad hominem attack.

The issue of discussion in the thread is age verification for the purchase of alcohol.

Logical debate does not involve fishing for possible negative characteristics of those who we disagree with (such as saying "I suspect a lot of the people here who have a problem showing their ID are of the same mindset as those who will continue to talk on their cellphones after being told by a flight attendant to shut them off").

LondonElite +1
