UA 930 on 7/27 SFO-LHR.. as if it wasn't bad enough that we got switched last night to an old-config 777. On mechanical right now, and 1915 departure delayed till at least 2200. Apparently we're waiting for an inbound from FRA - which is an old config bird, which makes me think they knew about this delay yesterday but didn't bother to tell us.

Wow. Just announced in the RCC that the delay is actually because UA failed to do an FAA mandated safety check and today is the deadline, and our slated aircraft cannot fly unless the check is completed.
