Poor service in CCR

We arrived off the BA 1439 on Friday 22 July, from EDI and with the intention of having a good breakfast while waiting for the BA 287 to SFO.

We made use of the "secret door" and headed straight to the Concorde Dining Room. It was not busy and we were almost immediately shown to a couple of adjacent tables at the back. We were asked whether we wanted breakfast or lunch and were given the breakfast menus. All reasonably good so far.

However as we sat there, it became apparent there were very few staff, one waitress and one senior member of staff in a black suit. The previously used tables, two of which were immediately adjacent had not cleared of dirty plates, cups and glasses. Our orders only got taken by me attracting the attention of the single waitress.

My 8 year old daughter ordered waffles and two fried eggs. The waitress advised there were no waffles today, they were waiting for them to be delivered from the supplier. On the basis the menu claims these are freshly made, I was somewhat confused! She was offered toast as an alternative.

My Wife ordered a platter of fresh fruit followed by scrambled egg. .I ordered Eggs Benedict. None of this was a particularly complicated order.

The food was served after about 10 minutes. My Wife's fruit platter was forgotten and she was presented with a plate of what looked like scrambled egg made with powdered egg. It was dry with big black bits in it. My Eggs Benedict had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp the hollandaise sauce was congealed.

We called the waitress over and my Wife sent her eggs back, she was offered another plate of the same, but understandably declined. .She re-ordered her original fruit platter.

My eggs were overcooked and served on soggy toast and my daughter's were undercooked. This is supposed to be BA's flagship lounge and they cannot even cook eggs.

The only good thing during breakfast was the hot chocolate my Daughter ordered. Everything else was dire!

By the time we left the Concorde dining area, they had started to clear the previously uncleared tables.

We moved out to the terrace area to get comfortable for a while watching the aircraft movements outside. Our drinks orders were taken within a few minutes of sitting down. However they were not delivered, the waiter admitted he forgot to bring them, when he eventually did so.

Later, when my Wife had gone for a massage at the T5B lounge ( nothing available in the main lounge) my daughter and I went into the Board Room to use the PC's. There were dirty plates of congealed food and empty glasses lying about in there also.

Overall a very underwhelming visit!
