I wasn't going to mention the hotel, but now that I see that they really are trying to take me for a "ride" I'll say who. It is the Leela Palace New Delhi. I fully expected to pay a bit of a premium, but I would have expected the premium to be 20-25%, not 300%!! I had a guide and driver in a Mercedes from a 5-star Fairmont in Cairo, and it was only $350 for the day. $1000 for an X5 just seems really out of whack for a place like India.
