As to your second question I disagree that it's "Apples/Oranges" or even "Apples to Oranges" which is what I suspect you meant. In one instance we have several people who think a rule that one must show ID to purchase alcohol is stupid; in my cellphone example we also have a number of people who think the rule to turn off their cellphones on a plane upon request is also stupid. I guess one difference is that the people who think the cellphone rule is stupid eventually do turn off their phones while the people who think the ID rule is stupid don't wind up with their booze (at least not from the initial store).
