Thanks everyone for the replies. Unfortunately the prepaid I was considering is no lover available.
Now that the night would cost at least USD $320, I have decided to redeem points. I view this as a good value since I don't have any other use for the points in the near future. I would rather save $320 right now, than have the hypothetical possibility of saving more than that in the future. As the points can now be purchased, the maximum value of 18k points cannot be more than $430.

Thanks for this info. I have always overlooked this option, but in some cases it seems like it could save quite a bit. Are the certificates electronic, or does one have to present a paper certificate at the hotel?
