Had an annoying 1 day weekend rental two weeks ago in ATL. Although I'm an Emerald Club, I thought it would be interesting to see if I could Em Reserve an economy and have it count toward my Executive status.
When I got out to the garage, the Greeter said, "I'm going to upgrade you! Choose any car from that aisle with the green cone." Well, there turned out to be only Malibus and Impalas. I just laughed because I only needed a car for 1 day, and I wound up with a Malibu like I would have gotten on the Emerald Aisle, anyway.
But this past weekend I decided to use the AA deal. I thought I might make a run up to Charlotte so I went with a compact for the mileage. I was very surprised to be told, "Go to the aisle with the green cone." As I walked up a young couple was loading a Mazda3. There were 2 Corollas, 2 HHRs, and 4 Impalas. The Compact aisle was being used as a stageing area! I passed on the HHRs because of the black interiors and the summer heat. But it sure looked like EVERYONE who wasn't headed to the Emerald Aisle or the Executive Aisle was being sent to the green cone aisle.
So when I returned the car Monday night, I walked back down there. Still no Compact aisle; but there was that green cone aisle, although better stocked(4 NEW Ford Focus sedans)(and 3 New Jettas on the Emerald Aisle). Still, no Aveos and no Versas.
What is up with this freaky Green Cone Aisle?
