Flight/Origin-Destination: AC146 YYC-YYZ
Date: 21-Jul-2011
Cabin: J
Status: E
Pre-departure
Was check in quick and efficient? Unusual, but no. There was a PAX going overseas with a ticket issue and with only 1 agent it was 20 minutes before the next person was seen. Wish they would have called for help.
Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? N/A. Once again, Nexus and priority lines closed.
Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yup. Great pre-transcon drink and cookies as per usual.
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yup.
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? N/A
Onboard - J cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes
If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? N/A
Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes
Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? Yes
Did crew offer to hang your jacket? N/A
Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? No newspapers. Menus offered in the air. Order taken in the air, front to back.
Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Yes
Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) 45 minutes for drinks after take-off.
How was the quality of all the meals? Good.
Did the cabin crew continuously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? N/A. Sleep.
Post departure
If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? Priority bags were the first off the lane ^ but still slow. First plane into T1 that morning and it was still 20 minutes before the 1st bag came out.
Overall experience/any other comments
A normal 146 experience.
However, I do think that the service standards need to be tweaked slightly to accommodate the time of this flight. For instance, in Y the lights are off as soon as the gate is disconnected. In J, it was 45 minutes after take-off before they were off because they are on to serve drinks from the cart. On a flight that late, with so few people partaking in drinks, I feel like turning off that lights right away and taking orders from people who are awake (and then prepping drinks in the galley) would be a big improvement so that the rest of the pax can sleep. With lights on 1:30 before landing for breakfast service, 45 minutes is a lot of the remaining 2 hrs to have the lights on.
