Just for comparisons sake: Departed Japan from HND in the evening. It was easy to reach the terminal with little fuss or time from Shibuya area in about 40 minutes (including the wait for train at Shinagawa). Check-in was fast as were security/emigration procedures ! The lounge at HND was huge and the food/beverage offering blew NRT lounge out of the water. All in all I wasn't too jet lagged with this late evening departure form HND.
