Opera PMS outage
I'm at the HR Santa Clara and an Opera PMS outage is causing a total disruption of business. The system has been down since this morning and they can't check guests in (or out, I'm told).
My experience:
- I entered the hotel, went to the front desk, and was told their computers were down. They took my name, matched it on a printed list of Diamonds arriving, and got my phone number to be called when they were ready.
- Two hours pass while I sit in the bar. Hummus is tasty.
- They call me and check me into a room. Not the bed type I asked for, and they don't do any of the diamond recognition stuff (including not coding my card for the Regency Club) but given the enormous (200+) number of people sitting in the lobby, I don't complain.
While talking with the staff, they tell me there's a nationwide outage of the Opera PMS system and all these hotels are unable to run as a result. Sounds like a total nightmare. Anyone else affected?
