I have an aunt that gets her left and right mixed up and can get herself turned around even in places she goes weekly (she still has problems figuring out how to get out of my neighborhood and I've lived there 4 years). She can, however, find a shopping mall or a courthouse anywhere - it's a gift.

Years ago she and my mother were on a driving vacation in the northeast. My mother listened to the directions my aunt gave her and ended up in the middle of a residential neighborhood. My aunt managed to get them back to the shopping mall she had seen from the freeway several miles back and joked about wanting to stop and visit it. As my mother says about the incident, she was the idiot that allowed my aunt to give her directions.
