I don't agree with the above poster regarding "the high road." If UA screwed you it is your job to rectify the situation with your OWN time and energy. If UA screwed themselves there is no obligation on your part to be their advocate and spend YOUR time and energy to fix something they did in error.

Regardless, taking "the high road" in this case could result in cancellation of the itinerary since agents would have no idea how to fix this other than starting over. Then trying to get your seats back when the award fare is not immediately not returned to the bucket would result in a mess and total loss of your trip. Simply not worth it.

If they catch you they catch you; you'll give them the miles. But you should remain oblivious and agreeable. That's it.
