Question - Driving from Connecting City to Destination; Can I Claim My Bags @ Final
First off, I apologize if this has been asked multiple times on the forum. I did a search, but couldn't find what I was looking for.
I have a Delta Skymiles ticket coming up this weekend, for which we've had a slight change of plans that effects my return travel. My question is, if I were to get off at the connecting city on the return (only), would my checked bags make it to the final destination city's luggage claim belt still? I found out I need to pick up the family, then would just drive to the destination city -- for which my plan would be to pick up the luggage there on the belt. Timing wise, I'll have no problem making it to the destination city at the same time my plane is scheduled to land. Will getting my bags there be a problem?
Otherwise, Delta wants $150 to change my ticket to end at the current connecting city, which I'm having a hard time swallowing. Will they still try to charge me the $150 if I don't board the connecting flight? Thanks in advance for any help.
