FA spilled an entire cup of water on me and my laptop case
I was on DL 6347 today (Comair MSN - DTW). The FA spilled an entire cup of water on me, 1/3 of it landed on me, 1/3 on my laptop bag (underseat), the rest ended up on the floor. She came around with a big wad of paper towels, I dried it up the best I could. The inside of the bag wasn't soaked, but it was damp. The incident happened about an hour ago, I'm sitting in DTW right now waiting for my connection. As of this writing the interior of the bag is damp, and the laptop is working.
This was a short flight, there was just enough time for beverage service. It wasn't practical to discuss the incident with the FA in flight. On the way off of the plane, I explicitly asked the FA if an incident report should be filed, as I have concerns that my laptop got wet and might malfunction. She said there was no such thing as an incident report (which seems EXTREMELY unlikely). I called the platinum telephone number while I was still in the gate area (C concourse), they told me to find a red coat. I went over to A43, red coat told me that they could do nothing for me because it was Comair in-flight operations.
I acknowledge that my laptop works, my bag will dry out, and this may turn out to be a minor incovenience. On the other hand, water and electronics are a bad combination, I want to document this event in case something bad happens. What should I do? My current plan is to call corporate customer relations tomorrow at the 404 telephone number.
Finally, in retrospect I realize I should have asked to speak to the captain when the FA refused to write a report. If this ever happens to me again, and the FA isn't cooperative, that is what I will do.
