I don't believe there were EVER any SA seats available.
I pretty much jumped on to book some SA flights to about 7 different destinations (was looking at potential trips from MHT (and looked at BOS as a second option) to 2 or 3 airports outside of LA, tried Vegas, tried Tucson, Phoenix, as well as Ft. Lauderdale and Ft Myers. I've done this w/ SA's in past and if I get on right when they open up the dates, although they go quick, I've been quick enough and never had probs. I always do it for holiday season on morning they open up. This time I was on it morning the window opened up for booking and there wasn't a single flight w/ seats avail in or around or on any day the week between Christmas and New Years.
IMO they blocked off the dates entirely to SA's - just another lovely benefit of 2.0 and the new WN attitude. Used up all but one expired reward for a long Columbus Day family weekend in Tucson w/ a close friend instead as I figure the new attitude at WN will be to make sure SA's are nearly impossible to ever redeem if I hold on to them.
This was the last straw as I adjusted from "reducing" my WN travel due to RR2.0 to discontinuing it altogether (1 r/t flight since RR2 inception). Since I do have the CP I am doubling up some points through HHonors w/ WN to build up enough for my wife and I to take one last freebie trip (which will be next year after my A expires but that'll do it for me and WN. I do have an old $110 credit through work that I'll use for one more RT revenue to PHL but WN has lost any chance at a revenue fare from me unless I absolutely have to. It's pretty sad that as an A-List w/ a CP and years of loyalty they've left a loyal customer with such a bad taste that I won't spend another dime on this airline. Attn WN: we do have choices.
