The key question for shorthaul ex Gatwicj - is there still premium traffic worth chasing after? If so the BA brand would seem logical. If the answer is no, then maybe some form of single class service under a different brand might be more appropriate, still giving feed as needed to the longhaul ops but otherwise.
A shame that different decisions weren't made in the 1950's and 60's. We'd then have one pre-dominanant London airport rather than fractured service from 5.
As I have said before, certain BA directors wanted to offload LGW SH, earlier on in the year. Silla was moved into the role to see if she can turn LGW around.
I cannot see the LH routes every going, but SH has a big question mark hanging over it.
