I agree with your thoughts, SRG. BA would not send Silla down to LGW to shut things down - if anything, she is there to bolster things up. Likewise, moving to a new check-in zone is a huge positive step for BA at LGW. It is the start, I would guess, of many new things that will revitalize the LGW ops. I peeped through the door when the contractors were leaving the other day whilst I was en route to a flight, and the new check-in space is fantastic with huge walls of glass, etc. It will really enhance the operation.
One other thing that LGW has going for it...family. Being a small base (what is it, 10% the size of LHR?), the staff seem to know one another, and it has an air of family about it. I find both ground an cabin experiences to be hugely positive at LGW.
