Question Category 5 redemption value- advice needed

I need one night in Kyoto, where the Hyatt Regency is a category 5 property (18k points per night).

If I choose to pay for the stay, I will book a prepaid through Expedia, as I have an expedia coupon that I need to use. This would bring the total room charge for the one night stay to approximately $240.

On the other hand I have relatively substantial point balance, and no immediate plans to redeem an award stay at a Hyatt. I know that $240 is not a great value for 18k, but am not totally sure what to do...

I know that GP points can now be purchased (up to 40k/ year), and 18k would cost approximately $420 to buy- so anything close to or higher than $420 would definitely be a good redemption value, but $240??

Just curious as to what the actual present value of my points might be. I am aware of the possibility of devaluation, and have no specific plans in the near future to use points at any other Hyatt. On the other hand I am worried I might regret burning these 18k someday when I decide to go to Paris or the Maldives.

I would appreciate any advice on whether or not this is acceptable redemption value- although I know it is a subjective question.

Thanks
