well obviously the hotel did not preauthorize, therefore the OP was required to put down a cash deposit.

i was speculating if there WAS a card (swiped) on file, there might not have been a wait...

as long as we are on the CC topic, CC on reservation guarantees the reservation, and in the event of no-show, card is charged for no-show fees as AUTHORIZED (whether electronically or otherwise) by the individual making the reservation. it does not however guarantee things such as hotel required deposits, incidentals, or other things...

... if it was the case, there might be a lot of issues in Coupon Connection
