Before you leave we need to check that you have not smashed the bedroom window.
Yesterday I was prevented from checking out of a UK Holiday Inn Express until the receptionist visited my room to check for damage.
1 night was booked using the new Pointbreak list and the reservation was guaranteed with the mastercard on my profile.
I checked in at 5:15pm and presented my PC RA card.
The hotel wanted to swipe my mastercard but I'd left it at home. I asked them to authorise the mastercard on my PC account but they refused as I could not physically present it.
After the receptionist spoke with the duty manager I was given two options:
1) Pay a £50 cash deposit
2) Be refused a room and lose my points
I paid the cash deposit as I did not want to sleep in my car.
The following day when I checked out the receptionist would not refund my deposit until he'd visited my room to check for damage.
When he returned I asked if that really necessary and he expalined that a guest had previously broken a window and they could not get the money back.
I have maintained Platinum with PC for 11 years and been a RA for around 3 years.
Has anyone else been subject a room check prior to being allowed to check out?
I will be pleased to name the hotel if anyone is interested.
