Just a thought in this discussion which meanders from the original request.
Most former German cities in the East were totally destroyed after the war.
The Polish people reconstructed faithfully following old records. Look at
Gdansk (Danzig) or Wroclaw (Breslau) where the medieval old parts were
faithfully reconstructed. These cities are new in a sense but show (thanks
to the historians) their original cozyness and beauty. They could have just
bulldozed it (like the Russians in Kaliningrad/Koenigsberg) and built these
concrete slabs. So - what is wrong with reconstruction of old buildings
showing a humane face of architecture ?
