To clarify the previous post - since one has pick up one's checked bags to go through customs and immigration when entering Canada, even in transit, it can make a difference if it takes time to get the luggage/baggage.

I have missed several connecting flights from Montreal to Ottawa, when arriving in Montreal from a US destination, because of the luggage delay problem.
