OK. Your bag should be tagged all the way through to BKK. Since Thai flight is superior to the Air China flight and gets in at a better time, stick with what you have and hope the UA incoming is on time. Usually the incoming long haul TPACS are not delayed by PEK air traffic control, so if you leave the USA on time, you should be at PEK on time.
Keep in your hip pocket Plan B: Air China daily flight that leaves in the early evening. Plan C (if Plan B flight is full)--Air China overnight flight to SIN (leaves midnight-ish) connecting in morning to TG first flight SIN-BKK. Arrival in BKK around 9 am. Not ideal but it will get you there. In case you can't connect to the TG flight, insist on one of these.
