Strangely, I downloaded the [free] Kindle English translation of the Qur'an yesterday, to continue reading it and trying so very hard to understand WHY? Perhaps it will be easier on the Kindle than in paperback?
It's a noble endeavour you're trying but I don't think reading the Qur'an will give you the explanation you're looking for. It's not there as far as I'm aware.
