LH's 'plus 20 kg' means 'only' the same allowance as LH first-class passengers, even if a StarGold flies in eco (not another 20 kg on the first-class allowance of 40 kg if you fly first - but flying first LH will 'close there eyes anyway' if you check-in up to 49,9 kg on flights with weight concept).
Yesterday, Ansett in Melbourne, at my (StarGold) check-in in eco (MEL-SYD) for my same-day-connections with Lauda (SYD-Vienna-Zurich) in paid business (Lauda offers 'only' two class flights), showed me their written and printed rules, saying that they allow (anyone) the higher (piece or kg) allowance of a later connecting international flight, plus an additional piece (piece-concept) or another +10 kg (weight-concept) for StarGold (me) which brought my total check-in allowance to 40kg (Lauda business 30kg + 10kg for StarGold).
They easily accepted my 44.9kg (two pieces) that I finally checked-in (I joked with them if for my double StarGold: UA 1K and LH Senator I would get twice the +10kg ...).
The chocolates they received afterwards were only 50 grams ...
