Totally agree. Better and also cheaper to implement, which I am sure plays no small part in CO's choice. I suspect GID use will not become system-wide. It's probably the smart choice since, by the end of the year, estimates are that over 50% of phone users will own a smart phone. No doubt even higher for the subset of flyers/those who care about standby's and UG's.
I like GID's, but given the choice, I'll take the PDA site.
This is kind of rude to international, disconnected and occasional travelers, who may not have the awareness or access that you get via your data plan and PDA.
The screen displays in the airport should match the PDA, which the airport being the more important for accuracy, IMO
