My boss hadn't a clue what the note said as it was in Spanish so threatened not to pay me as it wasn't me that was ill. I said I couldn't care less whether I got paid or not....but considering I had had only two days sick leave in the previous 6 years I thought that was a bit harsh.
In the passing I bumped into the lady from the wages department who asked me about my holiday. I explained what had happened and she said she would look at what the employees manual said....she didn't like the boss.
She got back to me saying it came under compassionate leave and the boss had no right to tell me I wouldn't get paid. ^

I am a doctor myself and have faced a lot of people trying to get all sort of notes allowing them to get all sorts of freebies weather they really needed them or not. It amazies me how far people are ready to go sometimes. Moreover, I am suprised that some of my collegues are willing to write these notes quite lightly. Doctor's consultation or note is fine when there is a real medical reason causing restrictions for someone who for example really needs travel and can't wait that this restriction could be taken care of.
Writing a note for faked infection for someone having a flue and not feeling like flying is really something I would not like to hear about...
