Air Canada is the only airlines in this country that is held accountable for providing bilingual services.

Many government setup rules to Air Canada have to be followed, but not othe airlines. No matter what, the old pension plans have to be carried, and Air Canada is not allowed to ask the current employees to switch DB plan to DC plan either.

WJ is not a full service carrier, no unions, no legendary baggage, no business class, no lounges, and fundamentally it is new airlines so no much burden on it's shoulder. They don't have to train employees to learn French, no it has to provide French services, unless it wants to capture the Francophone speaker business.
I didn't read the first part of the thread with the languages law not affecting West Jet..

On Vacation, so this faux pas slipped.. but thanks on the update on this..

I might add that in Alberta, that a traffic ticket has been succesfully appealed in the Court of Queen's Bench because the ticket wasn't written in French.. so if WS is not subject to the french law.. with the recent court judgments, they may be forced into the fold..
