Whilst we fortunately have a J policy for flights over 2 hours (assuming you have the budget) - we similarly have a team of people making sure that don't spend more than the £7.50 we are allowed for lunch, or we have stay in grubby hotel a taxi bride away from where we are meant to be so we hit budget.

The people who enforce these rules are not the ones getting up at 4am or staying away from their own homes in grotty hotels.

And while the company saves these pennies - it spends millions on IT projects that don't deliver, etc etc.

But I feel lucky that we are allowed to use our FT acquired knowledge to get upgrades etc.
