Will be flying into Hannover late August (mid-morning Sunday arrival). Need to be back in Hannover Thursday evening (hotel booked there--business meetings start Friday morning). So, wife and I are looking to do some quick touring. First thought was immediate train to Hamburg and spend Sunday afternoon/Monday there. Tuesday AM train to Berlin--spend Tuesday/Wednesday there (plus Potsdam) and return to Hannover Thursday AM to see that city.

Would really like to see Berlin (have not been there). I have been to Hamburg and Hannover, but my wife has not.

Any other suggestions on such an itinerary--what about going to Dresden and then Berlin followed by run back to Hannover?

Open to any/all suggestions. Will not be renting a car.
