After a bit of advice, I am using a *A RTW fare basically go go around the USA and between Australia and NZ (long story, and mad schedule, and yes it is about $1000-1500 cheaper than any other way of doing it).
But it requires me to goto europe but my schedule does not allow me time to stop on route (I want to maximise time with family and friends that I have not seen for ages). So I am basically going;
ORD/LHR/SIN/PER
in one hit in Y - madness I know (but it is actually only 4-5 hours longer than by going the more direct route and more miles - never know I may be able to build a gap into the schedule).
I am booked UA ORD/LHR then SIA LHR/SIN/PER with good connections. And yes as a *G I will be making good use of the lounges.
I am running an assumption that SIA of the *A carriers would have the best Y class for that leg (europe to PER). Or would I be better off taking LH, SAS or lauda.
Any comments,
Mark
ps. hopefully SIA will be kind to its new acquisition and supply NZ*E's with upgrade certs but somehow I doubt it.
