You bet SQ is uncommitted.

In joining any alliance, they have to funamentally change their loyalty marketing. Remember, this is one of the carriers that brought us miles for F&J only (Passages)

The PPS is limited to pax who qualify through F and J flying. Their Solitaire level requires such an extraordinary level (5 yrs PPS, 800k kms (500k miles) all in F or J) that I would be surprised if they have more than a few hundred members at that level.

Now, they will have to extend PPS levels of recognition to * Golds from over a dozen other carriers, whereas their Golds would likely be getting little extra benefit since they fly a lot of F & J anyway.

Why try and keep an SQ PPS card when you can fly 35k with any * carrier and get AC Elite?

I suspect their is a bunfight of epic proportions going on in the Marketing division between the loyalty marketing people and the sales group. Ultimately, I think sales will win--but the shakeup will be pretty fierce.

Frankly, I don't know how long SQ will stay. Alliances are fleeting things--BA (the whore of all alliances) has been married to UA (sort of), US and AA in succession. VS and SQ could be picked up as a good pair by any alliance.
