My grandpa was a captain for United back in the day and my dad has some good stories about trying to non-rev the whole family (7 in all) during the holidays.

TBIT is indeed a very disappointing terminal! I flew LH out of there in April and because of a aircraft switch on the inbound flight, we were stuck in TBIT for 3 extra hours with just a food voucher (thank you EU for that)
