I was on a couple of RT Y segments on SQ recently. I noticed 2 strange "rules" that SQ flight attendants enforce strictly :
1) No headsets use before take off and landing. While on all flights they announce that Krisworld will get turned off during take off and landing, I've noticed that on some of the flights they don't actually turn it off so you can still watch video in your in seat monitor. 2) Cup holders need to be stowed! Tray table and seat I can understand but cup holders?? Why are they so strict on cup holders being stowed prior to landing or take off?
I find both of these rules quite strange and frankly irritating.
Many airlines now allow headsets to be used during takeoff, landing and up to gate, but for whatever reason SQ choose not to. My theory has to do with people not hearing announcements when listening to their ipods etc, and easier to make sure no-one is wearing headphones, irrespective of source of noise into that headphone.
