On first sight I tend to say, they must now give me 1K at the and of 99: my status miles earned with the two StarAlliance-programs LH-miles&more and UA-Mileage-Plus add to over 185'000 miles for the calendar year 1999. On second 'thinking' I guess, that is not what they wanted to say - probably they just want to communicate (what we all know for a long time now) that you can earn status miles on/with all StarAlliance carriers and get 1K fast if you always use UA's mileage-plus-program (but that explanation is missing, to the contrary they use the wording "all airline
programs combined" ... and so I am tempted not to ask UA now, but to confront them at the end of 1999 with their wording and ultimately ask that they keep what they promised.
I read in the August-99 United Airlines Mileage Plus newsletter for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (I have both versiones english and german):
Premier Executive 1K: A status apart for the very frequent flyer.
I you fly over 100.000 miles a year - ALL AIRLINE PROGRAMS COMBINED - you could easily qualify for Premier Executive 1K-status, the highest level in Mileage Plus. All you have to do is concentrate your trips on United and the other members of StarAlliance (Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Ansett Australia, Lufthansa, SAS, Thai, Varig).
