I fail to see the connection given that the perk is EQMs, not MM miles.
If, as is endlessly rumoured, AA changes MM earning to no longer include all miles but only EQMs, with this card they'll be able to say "You have more than one way of earning MM status than just BIS miles, EQMs earned from the AA Citi Executive World Elite MC will also count towards MM status."
